This is a narrative of a place losing the qualities that distinguish it from a space. Place is a psychological event wherein a physical location and moment in time is given context to a person through experience. This work is an exploration of the relationship between place and time.
This series consists of shaped paintings. I focus on the structure and color of man-made objects protruding from the natural landscape. Cut from dense fiberboard and then painted, the shapes are graphic and minimal. The colors are specific to the objects they describe. Titles and accompanying text are used to provide context for the viewer.
